Here's an example Seth gives:
Even dentists face this quandary. Should you be the most expensive, best trained, most extreme dentist in the world, catering to the edge of the passion market, or perhaps develop a chain of $19 five-minute whitening shops for the outer edge of the pop market?
Great stuff to prompt a niche marketing discussion. Here's where you can find the post: http://sethgodin.typepad.com/seths_blog/2008/05/avoiding-the-pa.html
For myself, I'm not waffling any longer -- I'm aiming for the "passion" curve, especially with the market I serve. I tried straddling for some time... and was just not getting noticed enough.
I'd be interested to hear where you see yourself on the bell curves.
Have fun, Barbara
