Using Google Alerts to get quoted more often -- Scott Ginsberg (scott@hellomynameisscott.com)
* Get a Google Alert on your (specific) area of expertise. * Then, any time an article, blog post or other outlet does a story on it, you will be the first to know. * After reading the piece, email the author. * Tell him you enjoyed his/her work. * Introduce yourself. * Explain how your expertise relates to the topic s/he wrote about. * Then say, "If you've ever looking for an expert resource on the topic of (x), consider myself at your service for future articles!" * Or, "If you're planning on doing a follow-up story on the topic of (x), I'd be happy to offer additional insight and comments."
By doing so, you will accomplish several goals. You will:
* get quoted in the media more often * stay current with your area of expertise * build relationships with reporters and writers * make them happy because you're making their job easier * (eventually) position yourself as a resource, as "The Go-To-Guy/Gal"
Have you ever wondered, "Is THAT all there is?" If you were living your "real" life, what would you be doing? http://www.livingyourreallife.comPrivate Reply to Barbara Casey | |
